Usually the only time I get to go to places like this is when the company is doing a renovation. When I do, I’ll look up what the company makes and this time it was more interesting than usual. Hunter makes automotive tools and the newest is a alignment scanner.

They also make a bunch of other alignment and automatic tire changer tools.

Company History.

Funny thing is, there must be one of the alignment scanners in a drive through garage behind the building I’m working at and in the mornings there is a  line of cars going through like a car wash. I don’t think I could handle the data from a day to day basis of what my alignment is, but I’m no engineer.

The Hunter Roadforce Balancer is essentially the Cadillac of alignment and balancing racks - I’ll actively seek out a shop that has one.

That’s perfect for a dealership.  No need to hang the reflectors on the cars now to check alignments as they hit the service entrance.  The Chrysler dealer we’ve used in the past had an alignment check setup right as cars entered to receive service.  I assume it’s just a quick way for the dealership to sell more services at over $100 a pop for an alignment.  This one is even easier.  And they could check every vehicle that rolled through the doors.  Good idea.

Hunter is exactly why I tell people to check their alignment regularly and there’s no excuse for not doing so.

They have a line of automated scanners like this that can do a basic pass/fail check in seconds. They have a new alignment rack that can do a full check including mounting and dismounting the sensors in three minutes or less .

At that kind of timing, there’s no excuse for not doing it.

Their tire changers are absolute crap though.

Also with the cameras there is a 360° photo as the car enters so no way to blame dealer for paint scratches and such.

Total toe and camber are a good start, but only a part of the picture. These can be good but individual toe and caster can still be out. Very useful tool, but best interpreted by someone who understands alignment angles (not a lot of service advisors )

Just a snap shot and a chance to show: RED=BAD you need an alignment, and upsell it.

There are other videos on the Chanel about dealers installing these and that pay for themselves blah blah.

Yeah, what I'm trying to say is if someone comes in with a complaint but this thing shows green, that doesn't mean it's all good.
